Shetland

Elizabeth Balneaves in her book on Shetland titled "The Windswept Isles" described Shetland as "a hundred islands reaching out northwards towards the Arctic, battered by the Atlantic on the one side and by the North Sea on the other. Three thousand miles of coastline fringed with countless beaches, spattered with lochs and threaded with inlets – scarcely anywhere is more than three miles from sight or sound of the sea."
